Mobile vision instead of dedicated scanner hardware
For an in-store ordering app used by a major fashion retailer, we delivered camera-based product barcode scanning. The system is tuned for store lighting, angled tags, reflections and scanning distance. A custom object-detection model can first locate the barcode region before the decoding engine reads it.
The solution approaches dedicated-scanner recognition accuracy in common store conditions without introducing separate scanner hardware.
